An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estates & Ground Maintenance Manager to join our team in Chesterfield on a full time 12 months fixed term contract.  This role is based out of our Chesterfield office but will cover teams across Sheffield, Chesterfield and Coventry.

The role will involve overseeing the day-to-day running of the maintenance team that are responsible for the cleaning and gardening services across our estates and ensuring that our residents receive a high level of service in the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and monitor works assigned to the team whilst planning and managing resources and budgets effectively ensuring contractual and SLA requirements are met.
  • Provide specialist advice on best current horticultural and arboriculture practice.
  • Ensure all relevant staff are fully conversant with current Health & Safety legislation and that all works are carried out with due regard to the safety and wellbeing of themselves, their colleagues and the public at large.
  • Ensure that all items of equipment are maintained in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations and are at all times suitable for the safe and effective execution of the work being undertaken.
  • Undertake on-site inspections to monitor and record quality of work undertaken.
  • Identify potential external contracts, prepare and submit bids to develop services provided.

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar position with a social housing, cleaning and/or facilities background and will possess proven managerial skills. Any experience preparing and presenting management information reports and investigating incidents and accidents would also be advantageous but not essential.

Skills/Experience Essential:

  • Experience of successfully leadership of teams.
  • Experience of effectively engaging with customers, acting on feedback to improve service.
  • Strong performance management of team through KPIs.
  • Experience of successfully leading teams through change.
  • A sound knowledge of Health & Safety issues relating to the services.
  • Clear Knowledge of repair and maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Experience managing suppliers and contractors to deliver ‘value for money’ services.
  • Excellent knowledge of horticultural and arboriculture practice.
  • Excellent oral and written communications.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A full and valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
